SUMMIT SPORTS LEAGUE CODE OF CONDUCT

Summit Sports League (SSL) is an inclusive non-profit organization focused on building a welcoming and socially rewarding atmosphere for all, no matter orientation, gender identity, or athleticism. Our mission is to grow and empower each other through recreational sports and social opportunities, bettering the greater Denver community in which we are a part of.

Participation in Summit Sports League events and activities requires that all players, volunteers, and managers agree to the following code of conduct. Any individual found to be in violation risks temporary or permanent expulsion from league play and/or events.

All code of conduct violations are referred to Summit Sports League’s management for review and subsequent disciplinary action if deemed necessary. League management and referees reserve the right to temporarily or permanently eject any player creating a dangerous or hostile environment for the organization or others, or who is otherwise in violation of this code of conduct.

Summit Sports League’s core goal is to foster a supportive and welcoming community for everyone regardless of their skill or background. To that extent:

1. Participants will be respectful of their peers for all Summit sponsored or organized events, including but not limited to sports leagues and socials.*
   1. The use of abusive, hostile, derogatory, or otherwise malicious language when interacting with participants, volunteers, or league officials is not allowed.
   2. Violence — of any type — is not allowed.
2. Participants are expected to conduct themselves with integrity.
   1. Abide by the Summit Sports League rules of play.
   2. Participants are responsible for adhering to all sports rules — even if not called by an official.
   3. Participants will refrain from arguing about calls with game officials.**
3. Participants are expected to be good stewards of this community.
   1. Treat others with respect; everyone is here to play and have a good time.
   2. Clean up shared spaces. Community gyms provide us space to play; ensure all trash is cleaned up on your way out.
4. Participants shall actively avoid and report unsafe and/or dangerous behavior to team captains or league officials.
5. Participants will obey all applicable laws and regulations.
   1. Alcohol use during Summit Sports League sanctioned/organized sporting events and socials is determined by the facility policy and sport or event specific event rules. Drug use is explicitly not allowed. Celebrate responsibly.***

* The safety and wellbeing of players is paramount: if at any time you witness or are subject to abusive behavior or acts of violence, please immediately reach out to league management or submit an anonymous report here.

** Gameplay is fast and there are often many things happening at once. Please refrain from arguing with referees during gameplay, they (or your captain) can explain rules after play has completed. If you are called out by a referee, you are out.

*** Playing under the influence of drugs or alcohol is dangerous not only to yourself, but other activity participants. You will be asked to leave if Summit leadership believes that you are unable to participate safely.
